April 2022
Hello! As I write this, I am packing my bags for some extended time in Spain and Italy, but more on that later. Before we get to the media roundup, I have been thinking a lot about change, courage, and agility in our current world that continues to transform at the speed of light, and how we regard our lives and work now. It’s the time for personal evolution & change, staying open, curious & brave, pivoting away from what doesn’t work, aligning yourself with purpose, and treating your talents as superpowers (because we need them). I spoke with a dear friend & phenomenal executive coach in NYC about it, watch the interview:
First up: Alan Ibbotson is the founder of The Trampoline Group, leadership coach (changeologist), and host of WYDAF (Wisdom You Didn’t Ask For). Here he imparts wisdom, discusses emotional intelligence, shares where we are now, and why companies trying to go back to the way things were, are missing the memo.
Learn about “WYDAF” here and check out his Trampoline Services here
Some of his suggest reads: Atomic Habits by James Clear, Emotional Agility by Susan David, Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown’s (+ new HBO special)
Secondly: Follow media guru Evan Shapiro and his excellent newsletter 'Media War & Peace', which includes a previous article on how to pivot your career by hiring yourself as the CEO of your own s**t. His recent podcast interview on it is a great listen and motivator
Listen & Learn: Last but not least, a podcast round up. I listen to podcasts daily to learn, from global news to interviews to cultural insight, but these ones are all excellent educations tools, from career to history: How I Built This, What It Takes, You’re Wrong About, Maintenance Phase, Radiolab, Science Vs, Invisibilia, History Chicks, Stuff You Missed In History Class…
Happy Easter, Passover, or whatever you choose to celebrate this long weekend!
