February 2023
Hello! Regardless of what was another wild news month, I hope you walked right past the rows of Valentine’s gifts and instead remembered to treat yourself & send some love to your friends. Between the Grammy’s (drama!), Super Bowl (ads & Rihanna!), SOTU congress fights (more drama!), shooting down spy balloons & other unidentified flying objects (omg!), AI talking back (hello Hal!), we need our crews to discuss more than ever. In the meantime, I have been ramping up a lot of personal content projects and am sharing a few items below, so let’s just dive right in, shall we?

February is Black History Month, so visit NMAAHC for more stories and history, and ring the alarm about conservative politicians making continued moves to minimize or get rid of critical race theory and black history education. Florida’s DeSantis in particular continues to make oppressive choices, from dismissing black history, to anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, women’s reproductive info and more.
The gun violence never ends in America, as mass shootings continue daily (listen to this student who survived Sandy Hook as a child, only to escape again at the recent violence at Michigan state) - continue to put pressure on your local reps and donate to Everytown for gun safety
